A homemade smoothie is hands down the best way to start a week day in summer – it’s healthy, refreshing and something that even kitchen-phobic folk can master.
My basics are ice, a banana and some plain yoghurt… and the rest is determined by what fruit I have in the fridge and how substantial I want it to be; ranging from mango and granadilla to peanut butter. This combination was a winner this morning – and all you have to do is chuck it all in a blender and pour in to two tall glasses.
A banana or two
A handful of strawberries
1 orange or splash of fruit juice
1 slice of pineapple
1 small handful of goji berries
About ½ cup frozen blueberries and raspberries
About ½ cup yoghurt
A good sprinkle of oat bran
A small dollop of honey or agave nectar
A couple of ice cubes
